GT vs MI: Gujarat Titans won by 55 runs

Team Gujarat Titans (GT) won the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) by 55 runs in a GT vs MI match. The match was organized at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as GT was the home team.

Sent to bat first after losing the toss, GT came up with an impressive score of 207/6 leading to a competitive target. GT bowlers then gathered up to restrict Munbai based franchise to 152/9.

Chasing a big target, Mumbai was in need of a good start. However, skipper Rohit Sharma was out for 2 to his opponent Hardik Pandya, along with offering a return catch off a leading edge ball.

Ishan Kishan struggled to continue batting for MI and fell to Rashid Khan for 13 runs off 21 balls. Ishan attempted to heave Rashid Khan, but ended up getting dismissed. In the very same over, Mumbai Indian’s ‘Impact Player’ Tilak Varma was trapped a lbw for 2 runs.

Noor Ahmad then smashed a double blow in the 11th over of the match to leave Mumbai at a score of 59/5. He dismissed Cameron Green at 33 as the batter missed his swing with the ball. Whereas Tim David was miscued a low full-toss with 0 as his individual score.

Suryakumar Yadav (23 runs off 12 balls) also gave a return catch to Ahmad as MI completely lost its way. Nehal Wadhera scored 40 runs off 21 balls, but it just resulted in reduced margin of MI’s defeat.

Manohar and Miller performances

Batting first, Gujarat lost Wriddhiman Saha early in the game. He was then caught down leg, while trying to pull Arjun Tendulkar. Whereas at the other end, Shubman Gill also played an another fine knock and went on to complete his half-century.

The Gujarat opener took on Cameron in the last over of the powerplay. He smashed two 4’s and a 6 off his consecutive deliveries. He even brought up 50 runs for 30 balls as Gujarat reached 84/2 which was the halfway of their innings. Gill’s fine knock ended at 56 runs off 34 balls when he was caught.

Vijay Shankar (at 19) fell to Piyush Chawla soon after failing in an attempted to a big hit. However, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar added 71 runs for the fifth wicket in no time. Manohar however successfully took on Piyush Chawla in the 15th over..

Miller and Manohar gathered to loot 22 runs in the 18th over which was bowled by Green. Rahul Tewatia came in with another brilliant cameo. His unbeaten 20* came off only in five balls. This featured three maximums even, and two of them coming in the last over.

Rohit’s reaction

Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment at MI’s bowling unit after the match. The bowling unit gave away 77 runs in the last five overs of the match. They had also conceded 96 runs in the last five overs against PBKS, becoming another losing cause. Mumbai Indians is currently placed seventh in the points table, with only three wins in their seven games. Their next match will be with Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on Sunday, April 30 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Who became the Player of the Match in GT vs MI match?

Shubhman Gill scored a fine half-century for his team Gujarat Titans, while Miller and Manohar scored rapid 40 to help GT. During the bowling, Ahmad stood out with his individual figures of 3/27. Moreover, Rashid and Mohit Sharma picked up two wickets each.

For Mumbai, Piyush Chawla once again impressed with figures of 2/34. In the batting part, Wadhera top scored with a 40 runs off 20 balls.

At the end, Manohar was given the Player of the Match title for his brilliant knock.
