The 16th edition of the IPL 2023 is having its closing ceremony on 28th May 2023 after the finale (CSK vs GT) of this IPL. Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will face each other in their high intensity battle in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium. These two teams have constantly been the most dominant teams this season. CSK and GT have topped the points table several times this season. The first match of IPL 2023 was also held between the Super Kings and the Titans on 31st of March.
Interestingly, the opening game CSK vs GT was the game in which world witnessed an opening ceremony after a long time. Some famous celebrities like Arijit Singh, Tamanna Bhatia and Rashmika Mandanna set the IPL stage on fire. The closing ceremony of IPL 2023 is expected to have some other celebrities to keep the entertainment fever high amongst the IPL fans and that too on the night of the closure i.e 28th of May.
MS Dhoni creates history:
MS Dhoni will now become the first player to appear in a total of 250 IPL matches during his IPL 2023 final with Gujarat Titans here on Sunday. Dhoni will now also become the first ever player to appear in a total of 11 IPL finals since year 2008. He has appeared in total of 10 finals as a captain besides his temporary appearance for Rising Pune Supergiant in the year 2017 final against the team Mumbai Indians.
Dhoni has even led CSK to claim four IPL titles and also finished as a runner-up in the following: 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015 and also the year 2019. He is also the third-leading run-scorer for his team CSK in the IPL finals as he was behind players Suresh Raina and Shane Watson.
Ambati Rayudu announces his retirement
Chennai Super Kings middle order player Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League tournament on Sunday. Rayudu has himself confirmed that the IPL final of the 2023 will now be his last match of this tournament.
This explosive batter was a part of the CSK family since the year 2018. Rayudu has also won two titles with this franchise. He began his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in the year 2010.
He told that he has been a part of 2 great teams CSK and MI throughout his IPL journey. Ambati Rayudu has played a total of 204 matches, 14 seasons, 11 playoffs, 8 finals and also 5 IPL trophies. Rayudu’s tweet further explained that he is hoping to have his 6th trophy tonight. He further thanked his fans for this wonderful journey and told that it’s a no U turn decision.
Rayudu gained his reputation as a power-hitter during his career with Chennai Super Kings. He has even scored an impressive strike rate of 149.75 in his initial season with the team Chennai Super Kings when the side lifted the title in 2018. 2018 season turned out to be the best season for Rayudu as he scored 602 runs in a total of 16 matches for the Chennai based franchise.
