The Indian Premier League (IPL) will have its opening ceremony for the first time after 2018. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned to host a grand opening ceremony in Ahmedabad. The ceremony is organized on March 31 ahead of the season opening match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
GT vs CSK:
Gujarat Titans (GT) shocked everyone by winning the IPL 2022 title in their debut season. It was mainly due to the excellent captaincy of Hardik Pandya. The debutant team played delightfully with players like Mohammed Shami, David Miller, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia emerging as stars for GT.
Whereas IPL 2022 was not at all a good season for the four-time champions CSK as they finished in the ninth spot. Ravindra Jadeja failed to handle the team as a skipper. With Jadeja leaving his spot midway, it was again MS Dhoni who took as his responsibility. However, it was too late as CSK managed to finish just above MI in a disappointing season.
MS Dhoni shall one be the skipper for CSK as reports claim that he can retire after IPL 2023.
The opening ceremonies of IPL have always been a star-studded one since its inception in 2008. These ceremonies have featured performances by big celebrities like Salman Khan, Pitbull, Shah Rukh Khan, Akon, Shriya Saran, and Katrina Kaif too.
However, there has been no IPL opening ceremony since 2018. In 2019, the IPL Governing Committee and BCCI decided to cancel the opening event and donate the funds gathered to the families of the CRPF personnel killed in Pulwama attack.
The fact that the IPL has returned to a home-and-away format after 2 years disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening ceremony is expected to feature a number of celebrities. However, the captains of all ten IPL franchises will supposedly not attend the opening ceremony. But all of the franchise captains gathered on Wednesday for a mandatory captain’s meeting in Ahmedabad. Here are the details about opening ceremony of TATA IPL 2023:
